Beowulf and The Anglo Saxons

I found the story of Beowulf very disturbing and twisted. It was a very gory story. Grendel was a lonley bloodthirsty monster ready for his next victim. In fact he got pleasure out of murder. He was very feared by the people of Herot. They feared their lives every night at the mead hall.
Beowulf was known as a great monster slayer. He had defeated and killed some of the most intimidating monsters known to man. He came from across the sea to Herot to save the people by killing their monster that was terrorizing the land.

Beowulf was awaiting for Grendels arrival at the hall one night. Grendel broke the door down and the first geat he came across he ripped him apart and drank the blood from his veins and bolted his hands and feet down. I found this very twisted. The battle went on and Beowulf defeated Grendel. He hung the remains of his arsm on the rafters at the hall. At one point Grendels mother that lurked beneth the water came in and took Grendels remains back with her. What really stuck out to me about this is the fact Beowulf went after. her. He jumped into the lake and she took hold of him within her claws. Something that impressed me was how much confidence Beowulf had in himself. He seemed to be just a regular man taking on scary monsters that were three times bigger and stronger than he was. But somehow he always defeated and killed them. I really enjoyed reading this story. It opened my mind up a little to what was going on.

About the Anglo Saxon culture. I thought it was a very chaotic period and I wouldn't have wanted to be alive then. But this era indeed had a huge influence on generations to come. We have learned alot from them and how they lived.

Compared to this story, where Beowulf was from he was the big hero. As in any other stories most of the heroes always ending up dying or getting hurt. People like Beowulf want to fight for the right things and help people out. (Compare him to super-man). Super-man flew around helping people . Beowulf went helping people when he heard something bad was happening somewhere he knew of."I feared no one.I awaited my destiny well:never did I plot a quarrel, never did I swear an unjust oath.I take joy in this, despite a mortal wound. The Ruler of Mankind will not charge that I murdered a kinsman when my life departs this body(Beowulf)". Spider-man and Batman, didn't fear anyone just as Beowulf didn't fear anyone. The difference with Beowulf is that he prayed that God will always be there with him through what ever fight he was going up against. I've never seen Batman or Spider-man pray in there movies.

You still have a couple of questions to answer as well as some direct evidence to add to support your claims.
